Movement, Recovery, Life: Physio Kevin Poh’s Approach

Adapting My Methods to Suit the Diverse Needs of Clients

I love the variety that comes with being a physiotherapist. No two patients are the same, and that’s what makes this job so rewarding. For me, it’s about treating the whole person, not just focusing on a specific injury or pain point. I always try to adapt my methods to fit the individual, whether that means adjusting the exercises, using different techniques, or incorporating lifestyle changes that work for them. I want my patients to feel heard and understood, which is why communication is so important. By understanding what matters to them and what their daily life looks like, I can create a plan that feels achievable and, more importantly, meaningful.

Why Precision Physio?

I chose Precision Physio because it feels like the perfect fit for me. The clinic’s focus on patient-centred care, evidence-based practice, and a supportive team environment aligns with everything I value as a healthcare professional. It’s an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that works together to help people achieve their goals, and I’m looking forward to contributing to that.

In the short term, I’m eager to continue expanding my knowledge and experience, particularly in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I’m also passionate about learning and growing within the field, so I’ll always be keeping up with new techniques and research to provide the most effective care for my patients. Down the line, I’d love to take on more leadership responsibilities, potentially explore roles in education, or delve into research, particularly in integrating digital health tools into physiotherapy.

Achievements I’m Proud Of

I’ve been lucky to have had some amazing moments in my career so far. One of the highlights was winning the Best Presentation Prize at Digital Health Week 2025 for a paper I wrote about incorporating digital health tools into physiotherapy education. It was an exciting moment that really reaffirmed my passion for combining healthcare and technology to enhance patient care.

Another achievement I’m proud of came during my placement at an aged care facility. One of my patients, who initially hesitated to engage with physiotherapy due to balance issues, eventually gained confidence and improved significantly. He even took the time to write me a handwritten letter of thanks. It was my first real experience of how meaningful physiotherapy can be, and it reminded me why I do what I do.

Hobbies and Activities Outside of Work

Outside of work, you’ll probably find me outdoors. Tennis has been a huge part of my life for over 15 years, and coaching is something I absolutely love doing. I’m passionate about helping others discover the joy of the sport and watching them improve. I have also recently picked up golf.

I’m also a huge foodie! I love discovering new cafes around Sydney or experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes. Cooking has become a creative outlet for me, and there’s something incredibly rewarding about preparing a meal and sharing it with friends and family.

Balancing Professional Life with Personal Interests

I think finding a balance between professional life and personal interests is key to staying energized and motivated. It’s easy to get caught up in work, but I always make sure to spend time doing things I enjoy, whether it’s hitting the tennis courts, playing golf, or just cooking a meal. These activities help me recharge, and I find that when I’m recharged, I’m better able to give my patients the attention and care they deserve.

I’m excited for what lies ahead at Precision Physio. There’s so much I’m looking forward to, from helping more people recover from pain and injury to growing alongside such a talented team. The future feels bright, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
