Working Together: Putting People at the Centre of Every Claim

Insurer Spotlight — Precision Physio’s Insights

At the heart of every recovery journey is a team of people working behind the scenes to support, guide, and empower injured workers back to health. As physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, we often talk about the clinical aspects of care, the treatment plans, the clinical findings, functional assessments and education for example. But an essential partner in this process is sometimes overlooked,  the Insurer.

In our experience working with clients recovering from workplace injuries, we’ve seen firsthand the valuable role insurers play in helping people get back on their feet — physically, mentally, and professionally. At its best, this collaboration between health professionals, insurers, employers, and the injured worker is what makes recovery outcomes truly successful.

How Insurers can positively influence recovery

Insurers aren’t just administrators of claims — they’re active participants in a client’s rehabilitation. By providing timely approval for treatment plans, funding essential services, and facilitating workplace adjustments or graduated return-to-work programs, insurers help remove barriers that can slow down a person’s recovery.

A good insurer:

  • Communicates proactively with healthcare providers and employers.
  • Authorises treatment plans efficiently, reducing unnecessary delays in care.
  • Checks in with injured workers to ensure they feel supported and heard.
  • Helps navigate the compensation system when it feels overwhelming for clients.

When insurers are actively engaged and collaborative, it can reduce stress for the injured worker and allow treatment providers to focus on what we do best — delivering high-quality care that supports safe and timely recovery and return to work and life outcomes.

Building Positive Partnerships

We believe the most effective recovery outcomes come from strong, open relationships between our team of physios and exercise physiologists, and insurers. By working together, we can:

  • Share clear, evidence-based treatment goals and expected timeframes.
  • Provide regular, transparent updates on progress and any barriers identified.
  • Address concerns early, so solutions can be found before small issues become big ones.
  • Advocate for the worker’s recovery and well-being in a collaborative, non-adversarial way.

Our physiotherapy team genuinely values those insurers who see themselves as part of the recovery team — because, in truth, they are.

It’s About People, Not Claim Numbers

Behind every claim number is a person. A person with a family, hobbies, a job they care about, and a life they want to get back to. When insurers, healthcare providers, and employers approach injury management with empathy and shared purpose, the whole experience becomes more positive for the injured worker.

At our clinic, we take pride in being part of that team, sharing the same commitment to the injured worker.

While the claims process can sometimes feel complex, we see great value in fostering positive, professional relationships with insurers. Together, we can reduce barriers, speed up recovery times, and help people return not just to work, but to the life they enjoy.

To all the insurers who work with us — thank you for your role in helping our clients recover. Here’s to continuing to build strong, collaborative partnerships focused on people, not claim numbers.
