What is Pilates?
Pilates is a safe, fun and energising way of strengthening your back and core, increasing your flexibility and preventing recurrent pain and injuries. Pilates is also great for decreasing stress and tension to improve overall health and well being.

At Precision Pilates the focus is on your body and your technique
Pilates caters for those from all walks of life and can be adapted to suit all levels of ability. Many people enjoy Pilates as a fun form of regular exercise that is based around the combination of strength, form and flexibility. It is also used extensively in athletes and dancers where there are great benefits in fitness, injury prevention and recovery, and improved performance. The important thing to remember is that even if you feel you are unfit, have never done Pilates before or are worried about exercising after an injury, because of our small class sizes and experienced physiotherapist instructors we will tailor the exercises to suit you. Of course if you are already fit and/or experienced in Pilates then the same is true, we can tailor a progressive program to keep you challenged, motivated and energised.
We have found that Pilates is especially good for desk-workers who are having tightness, stiffness and aches in their neck, shoulders and back due to prolonged sitting. Even if you have a perfect ergonomic desk and chair set-up our bodies just aren't designed to sit for hours every week without really moving very much. Using a combination of large-range whole-body movements in conjunction with specific strengthening and postural awareness exercises is a great antidote to those long hours spent hunched over a desk. There are many other reported benefits too such as improved concentration and increased energy levels.
